Over 400 attendees were brought back to their school days (complete with a school bell + morning announcements!) for Communities In Schools of Atlanta’s 14th Annual Choose Success Awards Dinner. The evening was a celebration of student successes inside and outside of the classroom and community leaders’ life-long contributions to helping students succeed. With $20,000 raised for Atlanta’s at-risk students in less than an hour and $430,000 raised overall, we think it’s safe to say that the evening was a rousing success!

This year, the “Anne Cox Chambers Champion for Kids Award” was presented to two very special honorees, Neil Shorthouse, co-founder of Communities In Schools, and Patty Pflum, former Executive Director of Communities In Schools. Their hard work laid the foundation for the positive outcomes of the organization today. Other highlights of the evening included powerful testimonies from alumni, National CEO Dale Erquiaga’s touching speech for honorees, and a bonus premiere of Communities In Schools’ newest PSA video in partnership with Funny or Die and Sterling K. Brown (known for his most recent role in the NBC drama This Is Us).
