“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” – Dr. Seuss
Read Across America Day, also known as Dr. Seuss Day is an event motivating children to read as it helps to improve their performance and concentration in schools. This school day event typically takes place near Theodor Seuss Geisel’s birthday on March 2, as he is best known for authoring over 60 children’s books during his lifetime.
This day is celebrated in bookstores, community centers, libraries and more with National Education Association members from all over the United States providing various resources and materials for people interested in participating.
This national day isn’t just for school kids. If your New Year’s Resolution is to read a book a week, a month or a year, take this day to pick up an novel and jump start your reading goal.
